A Portal Of One's Own | 2022
The life I lead often feels suffocating, with tangled strings weaving through every aspect of existence. The patience required to catch a glimpse of a familiar face, hear a friendly voice, or anticipate a doorbell's ring can be overwhelming. I often wonder if I desire solitude or the presence of others—those who love and want me—or if I need the privacy and boundaries I've created around myself. Is it unreasonable to desire privacy in the presence of others? I find myself caught in between, navigating the uncertainty of knowing little and expecting even less.

In this project, we have endeavored to portray a woman in moments before or after hosting a guest who is not herself. These frames capture instances of anticipation and the joy of being noticed in places where the woman is cherished. This series seeks to offer an opportunity for reflection and reconsideration of the objects, subjects, and atmosphere of everyday routines.

This project was created in collaboration with the 'Zad' brand, designed by Azadeh (Fateme) Sanei. The pieces from the 'Zad' collection blur the lines between clothing and jewelry, evoking a seamless transition from one to the other.
